I have long neglected this site. Since the baby was born in September I have not been doing flower arrangements very often. But I have been busy. Right now it seems that website building is what I need to be doing and in the past few months I have created quite a few. I also re-made both the K. Cramer Site and my other business, Global Eye Photography‘s website. On the new K.Cramer site there are links to some of the projects I’ve been working on; I’ve had fun with them all and I’ve gotten to stay home with my sweet baby. For images of the baby, our photography blog has become the All Vivian Show. You can see daily images of her here.

Thanks for checking in, I’ll be posting more images of current projects soon.

I love making flower arrangements for the house, so Seal and Shelley throwing me a baby shower gave me an excuse for making a bunch of arrangements. I got a few things from the local floral distributor, just to make sure I had the basics, but then I went over to Mom’s house and picked everything I could from her garden. Thanks Mom!

I absolutely love this funny ceramic head. I’ve never given him flowers before and I am so delighted with the result. He is like a silly Hawaiian garden god, protecting the baby shower champagne. I used Mom’s garden roses and bougainvillea.

I also picked buddlia and scented geranium from her garden and mixed them with purple stock and dahlias.

I love little arrangements – they’re my always my favorite.

This hallway ended with an awkward window arrangement. To make it a little more interesting and useful, we turned it into a reading nook. A carpenter made a storage platform, we had a custom cushion made and covered with beautiful Belgian linen. Then I stacked pillows and blankets to make it cosy.

I love how scotchbroom smells. In high school I remember writing a poem about it; about driving canyon roads on a spring day, windows open in my orange Volkswagen, the rich scent coming in, the dog’s head hanging out. I still think of those days, heading to the beach after school when I drive around today and smell the sweet, pungent aroma of those flowers. It also makes me stop and bring a few home.

I’ve been doing more than just flowers lately; in fact, lots more, and I will post a few things here over the next few days. One project that I really enjoyed was designing a garden space that included a chicken house, raised beds, and a family friendly, beautiful space in an area that was just a shady lot to begin with.

This chicken house was built with turn-of-the century farmhouse doors and windows. It was painted to match the house trim so that there is some continuity between the Spanish style home it sits near, and the French country garden the client wanted.

Here is the construction:
